Andy, thanks for your advice and I will in future come back to you for any further advice. I think perhaps, I do put myself partly to blame for not doing a bit more research before buying the two Guinea Pigs we have. Of course we bought a couple of books on how to care for them but didn't research into the breeding of them and also where and how they are sourced by high street pet stores (Pets At Home). As with many people, I expect they see the traditional pet store as a source for all things pet related and don't consider the Internet as much simply because they can see and touch the pet in a store. I wish you well with your breeding and shall definitely refer you to my friends and family or in fact anyone who is looking for healthy, well cared for Guinea Pigs.If you so wish, please feel free to use my email or details of my experience on your website so that others can read about it. Great! Andy was really helpful with regards to buying a guinea pig. Emails were very friendly and I always got a speedy reply with all the information I needed in them. Visiting the proprietor was also a friendly and informative experience where I could meet all the guinea pigs as well as the ones i would be buying, see all the guinea pigs happy and healthy in their homes and any questions I had were expertly answered! The website covers all areas of guinea pig care and common questions, useful local information, tips and everything else you could possibly need to know about looking after them. The website was easy to navigate around with the main menus and links easy to find. The pictures of the guineas from birth onwards gave a lovely background and history of each animal. I telephoned the proprietor for advise on buying Guinea pigs and his knowledge is fantastic and he certainly knows what he is talking about. I purchased 2 beautiful baby Guinea pigs from Ajcavies. "Thank you so much for our adorable little guinea pigs. They are growing daily and a constant delight to all the family. They settled in so well and so quickly, actually within a day of bringing them home. I am sure this can only be down to the fact that you have given them such good care and handled them daily from birth, which we would have not got with shop bought piggies. They are very placid and love a cuddle, they don’t mind being handled in the least.

It was really good being able to visit and see our baby guinea pigs straight after birth along with their mum, dad and the rest of the litter. The communication was brilliant and Andy emailed us and sent us photos so that we were kept up to date on their progress. Andy’s website is better than any book and it is so easy and straightforward to use. It contains all the information you could possibly need, clearly laid out, along with competitions photos etc. etc.

I would definitely have no hesitation whatsoever in recommending AJ Cavies to anybody wishing to buy guinea pigs. The standard of care and attention is the very best. Andy is such a lovely person with a genuine interest in guinea pigs, he is so helpful and informative. He gave us lots of great advice on feeding, housing, bedding and also information sheets on how to care for our new little piggies. We found ajcavies, by chance, on a google search and discovered a wealth of information and the kindest and most helpful founder that you could imagine. We had actually intended to buy some guinea pigs from Pets at Home but fortunately for us, they had no short-haired varieties that day which was the reason for going online. It was clear through talking to Andy, the founder, that he loves his piggies and is knowledgeable and informative. We paid a visit to Andy's home and met his guinea pigs who are the most lovely looking animals. They are all well cared for and live in immaculate accommodation. Any guinea pig's dream! Having met Andy and his model guinea pigs, we decided to wait for one of his piggies to produce a litter. It was a fairly long wait which seemed like months but was probably only a few weeks and were rewarded with the most beautiful couple of guinea pigs. They are an absolute delight and the picture of health. Just thought I would submit my findings. I was given Ajcavies contact number by my local Vet whilst i was seeking two female baby Guinea Pigs. If you are thinking about getting a guinea pig, we would definitely recommend AJ Cavies. We have just bought two beautiful baby guinea pigs, which are very happy & healthy. We were able to visit to see the babies with their mother, & know that they were very well cared for and properly weaned before we were allowed to take them home. As a result, they settled into their new home very quickly. The fact sheets we were given are really useful, & Andy clearly has a lot of knowledge and experience. It is also reassuring to know we can consult him for further advice if we should need to.

We were delighted with Bubble's hotel. He had a comfy hutch with everything a guinea pig could wish for. Andy clearly adores all his cavies even the borrowed ones and gave Bubble plenty of attention to settle him in. He also applied some moisturising cream to his ear twice daily as we had requested and his ear was much better by the time we collected him.

I just don't know how I will ever thank Andy at Ajcavies enough for his superior knowledge of Guinea Pigs. I had a very poorly Guinea pig given to me as the previous owner had lost interest in him. I took him to the vet because he wasnt eating i was advised by the vet due to his age (3yrs) he was now very old and at the end of his life and was told to take him home and make him comfy.

I was so upset and whilst surfing the net I found Andy's website and contacted him straight away after a long chat and much sound advice andy asked me if his teeth were over grown, I must admit I said they do look it.
Andy gave me a Rodentolgists details and I took sam to my amazement Sam's teeth where very over grown and he was having great difficulty in eating and there laid the problem.

Sam is like a different Guinea now and so much happier and eating for Britain!!

'I never knew my guinea pigs could smell so good!'
I left Dorey and Bobby with AJ Cavies for a week whilst on holiday and I have never felt more comfortable with leaving them before. I was able to view their hutch (and their little heat pads) and was completely satisfied they would be well cared for. They were both down to receive a 'full beauty service' during their stay and they both looked like new pigs when I collected them. Dorey who is long haired and normally a bit matted was silky smooth with a neat little hair cut!

I purchased two adorable little girls from Andy, not only is he a dedicated owner but also full of advice and helpful tips. We came across AJ Cavies by chance while looking for guinea pig breeders, and are so glad that we did. The website is very informative and many of the questions we had were answered seeing as we are first timers. Andy is a very amicable and knowledgeable man who truly loves his guinea pigs. He is always there to offer his advice if and when needed. The hutches and surrounding area is kept spotless, and to say that the guinea pigs are spoilt is an understatement! I contacted him about going on the waiting list for (hopefully) 2 male babies and he kept us up to date all the way through. We visited when they were 5 days old and could come back anytime we wanted. When they were ready to come to us we were away on holiday so Andy kindly kept them for another week till we came back. We've had Biscuit and Opus for a few days now and they are settling well into their new home and are such a joy to watch and hold. I made contact with Ajcavies as I need to find Guinea Pig Boarding for Christmas & New Year. I asked if I could view ajcavies boarding establishment, there was no hesitation and a appointment was made. I arrived with a warm welcome by Andy, Wow!! I was so impressed with his set up the place was spotless in every way and the care was 5 star it was clear Andy is very dedicated and the piggies love him. Hi Andy, Dad has told me that Winnie put on 29gms and has also sent me a photo of him after his stay with you. He looks brilliant, I am so pleased and very grateful to you for taking such good care of him. He looks like he's been on a spa break! Dad mentioned about diabetes - I always thought he drank a lot but after a while I thought it might be partly a leaking water bottle as his water was going down so quickly, so have been forever searching for a drip-free one (without success), so that is interesting to know he does actually drink a lot. Simply the best Guinea Pig holiday boarding establishment around. We boarded our two Guinea pigs with Andy at AJ Cavies for 10 days and they were totally spoilt, one of our Guinea pigs is very scatty and in the ten days Andy had totally turned her around I think he has the golden touch! glad to say we have booked with ajcavies for when we go away in August. My veterinary practice highly recomended Ajcavies as one of their vets had purchased two Guinea pigs last year for his Children and said AJ Cavies demonstrated all the qualities a responsible hobby breeder should have. All the Guinea pigs were kept in extremely clean conditions, very healthy, bright and alert, well cared for and loved. I am now on Andy's waiting list for his February litter.
